There are roads in this world that, once stepped upon, can never be turned back from. The Road to Scortch was one of them. After Blackwolf’s armies began their march toward Montagar, Avatar Princess Elinore, Weehawk, and Peace set out on a long and dangerous journey into the heart of darkness itself. Scortch, Blackwolf’s mutant kingdom, stood as the complete opposite of Montagar: a desperate wasteland of war machines, mutants, hedonism, and the forgotten horrors of mankind’s past. Avatar and his companions would be tested in loyalty, sacrifice, and the burden of stopping Blackwolf before his growing empire consumed the world. For Avatar, it was the road back into a war with his brother, one he thought had ended a long time ago, but this time the old wizard had a trick up his sleeve. For Elinore, it marked the awakening of her true power and the road to self-discovery, becoming the Fairy Queen she had always known she was destined to be. For Peace, it was the slow and painful road to redemption, shedding the weight of Necron 99 and becoming what no machine of war was ever meant to be: a savior. And for Weehawk, it was the duty of a warrior to stand beside his companions until the very end. The Road to Scortch is, without a doubt, one of the most important and symbolic journeys in Wizards (1977), representing destiny, sacrifice, perseverance and the final battle between good and evil.
